Has anyone ever got a good year out of his 1936 card. Every time I use it he gets shelled, of course it's usually in homer parks, but c'mon his ERA is almost always in the 5.5 to 6 range.

He was quite a character. Casey Stengel was quoted saying about Mungo, “Mungo and I get along fine. I just tell him I won’t stand for no nonsense, and then I duck.”
I've used him in a few Franchise Leagues. Never got a great season out of him.

I've had several good years from him:

There is a song dedicated to him "Van Lingle Mungo" as performed by Dave Frishberg. You can find it on youtube. My family was huge Brooklyn Dodger fans so his name was uttered in our home a number of times, even many years after the Dodgers left us.

Here he is in a current league about a third of the way through the season. He's thrown a no-hitter and a two hitter. And he was quite a character. He came in at the end of the period where the Dodgers were call the Daffiness Boys. And of course he played with the President of the Daffiness Boys, Babe Herman.
