cristano1 may have lost the Barnstormers Finals 2 years in a row, but it's truly an amazing feat just to get INTO the Finals twice !

SOM will be notified immediately to award the Barnstormers Finalists their prizes. To chris_s, 4 tickets to a MLB game of his choice + the SOM board or computer game. cristano1 gets 2 tickets to a game of his choice.

The Winner will also be given an opportunity to choose 5 new cards to be added to the game. The Runner-up will be able to choose 3 cards. 3rd and 4th place finishers labratory and marcpelletier each can choose 1 new card.

Congrats to Chris on winning the Barnstormers tourney. It is an especially impressive win since your team, at 82-80, barely qualified for the playoffs with the league's 6th best record and was a huge underdog, as the other playoff teams were 2 100 win teams and a 92 win team.

Many thanks to Mighty Moose and the Barnstormers Board for putting together the tourney for umpteenth year in a row.

On a personal note, I was THRILLED that a non-smallball team won and that your team won without resorting to the super reliever strategy that, unfortunately, seems to dominate the Barnstormers' tourney. Hopefully, that will be fixed soon.

Yes, this was somewhat unexpected because as mentioned, this team barely made it into the playoffs. The team lost 17 of 19 games during a stretch heading into the last week, blowing a nice lead and seemingly dropping out of playoff contention. But somehow managed to get themselves close enough to have a shot the last night, needing to win the last 2 games of the season just to qualify against those beast teams that dominated all regular season. Some good starting pitching and a crazy hot streak from Ron Gant led the way through the playoffs, and I received far more good luck than I probably deserved in that last game.

And of course, I want to throw my thanks to Moose also for herding this group and keeping the tournament running smoothly.
