Four 20-Game Winners

I'm sure many of you vets have pulled this feat off multiple times, but (blatant brag) I just finished an ATG8 season ($80M) with four 20-game winners.

(Seeing as I paid over $43M for the quartet — Maddux, Alexander, Leonard, Tiant — I guess it's not that impressive. )

On the contrary, putting together a lineup than can win you 97 games with that much $ going to your staff is very impressive!

Thanks. Of course, last night in Game 4 of the playoffs, my team blew an 8-0 lead as Luis Tiant, who I have (foolishly?) set to F2 all year, stayed in for a beating with TEN  straight rolls on the hitters' cards in a 9-8 loss.

And all with 200 strikeouts ... nice team.

I just accomplished the same feat, also for the first time, with this squad last night. No common players unless you count the different version of Earle Combs.

Those are some pretty awesome numbers, especially considering you were in Royals Stadium and I was in Petco.

Same number of wins available! But yes, a bit harder to keep starters in the game.

If you search the boards, there was a thread a while about about what's harder to do: A 30 game winner or (4) 20 game winners. There are links to some other teams that accomplished the (4) 20 game winner trick which is always fun to look at.

FWIW ... I think the consensus was that having a 30 game winner was harder, nearly impossible.

I totally agree that a 30 game winner has got to be way harder. That said, I am now inspired to try to put together a team with one stud starter one excellent closer, and a bunch of scrubs for the rest of the pitching staff. I figure if I can load up on offense maybe that one stud starter could get 30 wins?

I was able to get four 20-game winners and the 30-game winner with this version of the 1906 Cubs in a franchise league.
