Teams with a preponderance of SW...

PostSun Oct 01, 2017 5:33 pm

Has anyone tried loading up on primarily switch hitters for an ATG team? I keep thinking about Mantle, Jones, Wright, etc. on a team with a neutral ballpark. It seems like 80% of teams are either choosing RH or LH ballparks. I'm curious if anyone has given it a try and what the results were. I can imagine it might be somewhat successful during a Barnstormers Tourney given the different ballpark requirements.

No one replied so I'm doing an experiment. Just about every starter is a switch hitter. Using Mauer at C and will probably platoon 1B. You are welcome to follow the progress of this experiment at

Best of luck... I think it is a good idea. I hope I remember to check back for your results.

The problem with a team full of switch hitters comes in when the other GM's in your division decide to load up on reverse pitchers, then can shut you down totally.

Update 36 games into it...

21-15 record with a two game lead. Mantle is excelling as is Mauer. Alomar and Henderson doing well too. Biggest disappointments - Dihigo and Greenburg. Notg quite ready to juggle the roster yet... Mark

The biggest problem with all switch hitters is that they get killed by very lopsided parks (assuming the guy in the lefty park starts all balanced lefties and the same for the righty park).
