Franchise League - Live Draft - Drafting
Posted: Tue Nov 14, 2017 6:31 pm
This will be a Franchise league. 999 mil, DH, 5/10/20% drops. All players drafted must have a card for one of the franchises you select. You may use ANY CARD in SOM that they have, but they MUST have a card from your franchises. No franchises can be duplicated. You must choose a ballpark that one of your franchises played in. When 12 managers have signed up we will request a randomizer to determine draft positions.
1. There will be a two-round serpentine live draft for selection of franchises. Each manager will select one franchise each round from the list below. Specific players have been assigned to certain franchises and will be treated as the sole property of that franchise for this league. For example, the Phillies have sole rights to Pete Alexander, so the Cardinals cannot put him on their draft card.
The Franchises:
Yankees
Dodgers (+ Jennings)
Giants
Red Sox
Indians
Athletics (+ Seward)
Braves (+ Bond)
Tigers (+ Baldwin)
Pirates (+ Hecker)
Cubs
Cardinals
Reds (+ Pete Browning)
Phillies (+ Pete Alexander)
White Sox
Senators/Twins
Browns/Orioles
Expos
Astros
Rangers
Mets
Padres
Mariners
Brewers
Angels
Rockies+Diamondbacks
Marlins+Rays
Royals
Bluejays
2. The following players will be ‘free agents’ and will not be associated with the franchises on their cards for this league. These players cannot be drafted during the autodraft and will become available to all managers during the waiver process:
ALL Negro League Players
Babe Ruth
Barry Bonds
Mickey Mantle
Rogers Hornsby
Jimmie Foxx
Hugh Duffy
Ross Barnes
Bryce Harper
Greg Maddux
Pedro Martinez
Kenley Jansen
Octavio Dotel
Players carded exclusively to those franchises that are not selected during the initial live draft will be available during waivers to all managers. For example, if the Brewers are not selected during the live draft, then Robin Yount becomes a free agent during waivers. Darrell Porter does not, because he is carded to more than one team.
3. Should a team end up with a ‘free agent’ or NEL player on their roster following the auto draft, the player must be dropped into the player pool before waivers. In the event of more than one free agent or NEL player on a manager’s roster, the highest value ‘free agent’ or NEL player should be dropped before waivers. Please, do not drop any player before waivers without checking with other teams so the best players end up in the pool. As a last resort, we may use trades to get players into the player pool.
4. Trades will be allowed in this league. However, each team involved in a trade must have the rights to the players they are trading. Trades before waivers to try to get players to their correct franchises may be made, but only when the players involved are exclusive to the receiving team.
By opening night, rosters must be comprised of players carded to one of your franchises, designated ‘free agent’ and NEL players, and players acquired through authorized trades.
