Is Jimmy Rollins a Hall-of-Famer?

Pretty interesting article about Rollins' chances from local sportswriters:

Jayson Stark's arguments here and in the following article about his 2018 HOF ballot picks seem reasonable.

Well, Rollins won't get in on the first ballot. And the case of SS Alan Trammell suggests that the odds against Jimmy Rollins getting into the HOF may be pretty long--although he may have a chance.

Rollins's WAR at baseball-ref is 46.0. Trammell's WAR is 70.4. Rollins's OPS+ is 95. Trammell's is 110. The dWar stat sees Trammell as a better defensive player than Rollins, as does Rtot. Each SS won four Gold Gloves.

Trammell has now been chosen for the HOF, but he had to wait 21 years after his retirement, and it took a Veteran's Committee vote to get him in. I always thought Trammell was worthy, myself, but he never got more than 41% of the vote from the BBWAA.

To me, it seems that, on the face of it, Trammell is ahead of Rollins at SS by most significant measures. But Trammell didn't get in very easily, and only after a long wait. I would predict that Rollins won't be selected by the BBWAA, given that Trammell never got more than 41%. So it will be up to the Veterans Committee to decide--in twenty years or more. I hope that if he does get in, I'm alive to see it happen! :D

NO his hitting was not all that great. Not really dominant. Plus I am not a fan of the accumulating career stats argument that Stark relies heavy upon.

Minnie Minoso should be HOF'er at least in comparison. Surprisingly high number of AS and MVP mentions. He really deserves a better ATG card -like 1954 or 56
