Early Baseball Film

Here's a really great film from the 20s -- nice definition, great slow motion scenes of Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker, Wally Pipp (who resembles Brandon Belt a bit) and Carl Mays (I hadn't realized that he was an underhand pitcher).

Thanks, that was fun! Did they have the film reversed or was Meusel really batting lefty? I've never read anything that indicated he ever batted lefty.

I think they mixed up Meusel and Pipp.

I really like Carl Mays form, with that slingshot toss. I'd love to hear The Biomechanical Man's take on Mays' pitching.

That delivery may be partially why Ray Chapman couldn't pick up the pitch that killed him.

some of the players helping with the tarp.

The PA announcer.

The catcher hunched over...not squating.

The kids scrambling outside the park for the ball.

Awesome..I love the oldtime baseball films..Thanks for posting..It appeared that baseball was so pure and innocent in those days..Sadly, The game will never be the same...
