Did you know that the first MLB teams to put numbers on their players’ uniforms were the Indians and Yankees, and that this happened in 1929?

Did you know that baseball-reference.com allows you to see all the players that ever wore a specific uniform number? And that you can sort each list be career WAR? Let’s go with it...12 teams, 36 uniform numbers.

League Parameters: $120MM Cap, Full ATG Set, DH , 5% Drops

RULES
Once 12 sign up, we’ll run a randomizer.
We will have a 3-round, draft, during which each team owner will pick 3 unique uniform numbers.

Draft order will be
1-12
12-1
12-1

Your auto draft list, and your team throughout the season, must be comprised exclusively of players who wore at least one of your three numbers at some point in their MLB career, per baseball-reference.com.

Use any card in the set for your qualifying players!

Pick any park.

Since many players have worn multiple numbers, there will be conflicts! These will of course be worked out in the auto draft.

Trades are permitted as long as all players involved are eligible for both teams in the trade.

Put your three numbers as your Town Name when you set up your team. For instance: 8-18-48

We are ready to roll! I will request randomizer. Numbers in the string will point to our list above. Ie. If 7 is the first number, drlanglo will pick first.

If anybody has any questions about the functionality of baseball-reference in the context of uniform numbers, post here.

Since NeL players are not in baseball.reference.com, is it right to assume that they are not allowed to play in this league?

And players that never had numbers are 'off-limits' as well?

So all players pre 1929 for example are free agents available in waivers?

No, I don't think any non-numbered player is eligible for this league.

kaviksdad is right. As stated in the rules, a player has to have worn one of your 3 numbers (for a MLB team) PER BASEBALL-REFERENCE.COM in order to be eligible for your team. So any player whose career ended before 1929, and NEL players, are definitely NOT eligible for the league. Also, there's no additional eligibility after the auto draft. This means you have to pick your numbers carefully, to account for conflicts (there are MANY) and to make sure you can fill all the roles on your team.

You can get to the lists on baseball-reference.com by clicking on the uniform numbers shown on any player page, or here

https://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/numbers.cgi

I will start a new thread on ILC for our draft. This one should be interesting!
