Right. Hank Thompson is connected with many "firsts" in MLB:

Youngest African-American to integrate a team

First time two African-American teammates played on the same team in the same lineup (with Willard Brown) (at least the first since the Walker brothers in the 19th century)

First time African-American players appeared in the same game on opposing teams (against Larry Doby)

First African-American player to appear in both American and National Leagues

First African-American player to bat against an African-American pitcher (Don Newcombe)

Part of first all-African-American outfield (with Monte Irvin and Willie Mays)

A tragic life after baseball, dying at the age of 43.

As always, a great obit on SABR https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/8740c8c4
