Newbie question

I'm in a high salary cap league, and I drafted Eckersley 1990 and Smoltz 2003. I want to use Eckersley as my closer, but I notice he doesn't have a closer rating (whereas Smoltz is a 6.) Will this come into play? Is Smoltz the better closer, despite having a worse card? Thanks in advance.

The closer rule is not used in ATG.

Eckersley's ERA is usually 1 to 1.5 points lower than Smoltz ! Bury Smoltz deep in your pen and elevate Eck to get as many innings out of him.
