Another trivia question. This player, carded in the ATG set, never played on a team with a winning record after he left high school. His college team was a doormat. His minor league career suffered from the parent team having stripped the farm to be competitive, and by the time he reached the majors the well had run dry and he was arguably the best player on a bad team littered with good players in the decline phase of their careers. Finally, he retired. His team won the pennant the next year.

Who is he?

Much more recent. Almost all of you had a chance to see the guy play, at least on TV and probably in person.

But nobody uses him because his arm’s too good and he has a big platoon split.
