Three personal firsts

PostWed Mar 20, 2019 6:05 pm

My very first game at this website was back in 2004 and Mickey Lolich pitched a perfect game for me at home in Dunn. That kind of hooked me on the game, although I don't believe I have ever had another perfecto in the next 296,000 games that I've played here.

Still, this Monday's opening day saw a couple of other personal firsts. I have never played a single league in the 200x series but I thought I'd give it a try, although I may never play another season. Just don't much care for the way baseball has devolved over the past 30 years. Anyway, Chris Sale throws a no-no for me, and most shockingly, a complete game!! Kind of cool.

The third first is from a regular ATG league. I believe this game is the most runs I've ever scored while shutting out my opponent completely. It was especially satisfying as my opponent crafted a team designed to win the new monthly challenge of the most team stolen bases and I made some last minute alterations to my team to make his quest a little more arduous. I enjoyed the replay immensely, recalling a line from Sparky Lyle's, The Bronx Zoo, where he quipped that George was only happy if he had a ten run lead after the first inning, followed by the Yankees slowly pulling away.
