Has anyone participated in a live draft, using the proxy queues with a 3 hour or no clock. We are trying one this Sunday. Any advice, share your experience. How long did it take? we will not have a clock.

Hi Dennis:
In the middle of a 24 team live draft now with three hour clock. Clock off overnight and weekends. We are on day 8 and in Round 15, now at 350 picks in the books. When the clock is off proxies will not fire....picks have to be manual. Not sure if with no clock if that will always be the case then??? When you have proxies set to go, be aware that if your queue is empty HAL will pick for you. I think those things have slowed us down with a reluctance to use the queue and lags due to proxies not firing at night. With the three hour clock, if your time is not expired when the clock shuts down at the end of the day, it restarts your clock in the morning so you get a full three hours in the morning even if you had 2 hours and 59 minutes used the night before.

Using NO CLOCK WAS A DISASTER. WILL CALL STRAT TOMORROW TO SWITCH TO A THREE HOUR CLOCK. AS COMMISH ALL I COULD DO WAS PAUSE DRAFT AND OR REWIND.

I need to share that most of problems came from coaches that did not show up at the start, but the rest of us were and picking fast. Then we had to stop for 20-30 minutes to find coaches, then some of others got tired and they had to be called, mess!!

It would appear that 3 hour clock live drafts go better if the clock is also on weekends. Since we can't predict the precise time a draft will end, waivers are a better choice than a frenzy. The draft could go very smoothly if people just set their user friendly queues, remember to set autopick to at least 1 and otherwise try to make timely picks. The last caveat does seem beyond the means of about 25% of managers regardless of the format chosen for the live draft. All in all it is a huge improvement over diamond dope or using the message boards.

Strat did get back with us quickly and we switched to a three hour clock. Proxies firing at will (15 seconds). After a bad evening we are now starting the 13th rd after day two. Thanks to the gentlemen at strat. Totally suggest the three hour clock if you want a longer draft. Rburgh switched also to a three hour clock and they are almost completed.

Final product? Three hour clock did the trick. After a disastrous first nite, we finished 25 rounds two days later with a frenzy. I found outa little too late that I could have payed the draft before the very last pick so as to control frenzy time, but it did not matter. We frenzied about 6pm Tuesday eve, no one complained, almost all were very positive. Two and a half day, 25 rd draft !!!!!!!
1. suggestion, smaller number of rounds.
2. worst to first draft order option.
Thanks to Rburgh for several suggestions along the way.
