Wild Fact

PostTue Jul 02, 2019 7:00 am

The Pirates' infield combined for 10 XBH against the Cubs. (Bell 3HR, Frazier 4 2B, Kang HR, Moran 2 2B).

The last team to do that also did it against the Cubs. Who were the 4 players in their infield that day?

Sorry if I misled you all, it was not a Pirates team that did it. This is an obscure NL record, apparently. (See how computers ruin our lives? Somebody can search a database, and we have another trivia question to drive us crazy.)

On April 18th, 1925, Les Bell (3B) had 2 2B and 2HR for the Cardinals. 1B Jim bottomley had 2 2B and 1 HR. 2N Rogers Hornsby had 2 2B. And young SS Tommy Thevenow chipped in with a triple. The Cardinals scored 20 runs that day, allowing young Pea Ridge Day to log the 2nd of his 5 career wins despite his allowing 14 H including 2 HR.
