100 Win Curse? Is it real? Post your numbers ...

Lots of discussion over the years about the "100 Win Curse". And it just came up in another league that is starting playoffs tonight so it got me thinking that it would be nice to have some hard numbers.

Below are mine, please share yours. For simplicity sake, I limited it to ATG 8 ...

(14) 100+ Win Teams
(3) Rings (21.4% won a ring)
(2) Finals Losses (35.7% made to finals)
(9) Semi-Finals Losses (64.3% lost in semis)

From my perspective, I would think the team with the best record in the league (which a 100 win team usually is) would:

Win a ring at least 30% of the time.
Make the finals 55% of the time.
Lose in the semis 45% of the time.

So while 14 teams is obviously a small sample size, my teams definitely did NOT meet with expectations.

If I only look at ATG, I have had 11 teams get to 100 wins.

7 won the finals (64%)
3 lost the finals (and once to another 100 win team) (27%)
1 lost in the quarterfinals in a 24 team league (9%) (interestingly, this team had 100 wins but was a wildcard and finished 9 games back in the division )

my 100 win ATG teams have made the finals 91% of the time, and taken the title 64% of the time. Clearly not a curse for me.

I've only had 8 ATG Teams get to 100 wins,
2 eliminated in the semi-finals,
2 eliminated in the finals,
4 have won championships.

So:

Win 50%
Make the finals 75%
Lose in the semi-finals 25%

It's starting to sound like the curse only applies to certain "lucky" individuals.

Please keep posting your results guys, maybe we can find that with a bunch of people submitting their results it really is normal across the board.

One thing I am sure of though
My 100 loss team did not win any playoff games

The following is only for ATG8 teams.

I have had 53 100+ win teams in ATG 8.

10 were eliminated in the semi's
14 were eliminated in the finals
29 won the league championship

19% lost in the semi's
81% made at least the finals
54.7 % got rings

I believe that these results strongly argue against a 100 win curse, although when a 100+ win team loses the semifinals, the loss becomes seared in one's memory as an unfair travesty and is thus more likely to influence one's perception that a 100 win curse exists.

It's starting to appear that I'm the only person afflicted with this curse ... YIKES!

Of the people posting I'm the only one with a winning % below 50% and I'm at 21%. Ouch.
