I don't get it.

I don't get it. Dave Pope is an ATG favorite of mine at all CAP levels but I noticed that his 1954 card doesn't reflect reality. He is a much better hitter against left handed pitching, albeit in a limited number of at bats, but he is 8R. So I looked at his career splits and he's slightly better against left handed pitching with more power. I have not bothered to look up any other players with extreme balance left or right but it makes me wonder.

He only had 10 plate appearances in 1954 against lefties, compared to 104 against righties. True, he hit .571, slugged .571 against lefties that year. And you're right, he did hit just about the same against lefties as righties during his career, but saw very limited action against lefties. But I think SOM tries to reflect the usage in extreme platoon guys, so they're not going to give a righty-killing lefty hitter who rarely faced lefties a good card against lefties. But....in no way am I defending their approach, just explaining what I think it is.

Ken Smith would beg to differ.

You're right Chris!! this card is ridiculous and should be removed from the set because Smith had exactly one plate appearance against lefties in 1982...…..a walk.

Ken Smith was the reason for the current policy for the vs. L side of LHB with very few PA's against LHP.

What is the current policy? I'm not familiar.
