Hrmm, maybe they did go with a pricing model to address bullpen?
Sutter is 7.75
Murray is 7.73

At first glance, looks like an average 5-10% price increase across the board on all the top hitters and pitchers, with higher increases or decreases for the ones that were out of line.
Denny McLain down to 9M
Murray up to 7.73

Please elaborate as to HOW to look carefully.
Where are you seeing the pre-1900 players?

There is a subset that includes the pre 1900 when you start a team

ATG8 is listed as a legacy set that apparently can still be played

Player set browser under ATG 9 is ATG 9 all eras. Originally it did not have the ATG 9 all cards.
Some nice new features some not quite activated. Park specific card graphs, they added my suggestion of "actuals" starting with 80M, superadvanced seasons replacing vanilla seasons.
Some strange salary changes, '72 Allen is over 9 million. Don't recall that card being used much at regular salary caps.
Haven't looked at the pitchers yet.
