Baseball season will begin July 23rd with a 60-game schedule.

Spring training camps open July 1 at major league parks.

Season starts July 23rd YANKEES VS NATIONALS.

Season slated to end Sept. 27.

NO finalized schedule yet. But teams play teams in their division 10 times each for a total of 40 games & teams in the corresponding division in the other League a total of 20 games.

Clubs can have 30 players for the first two weeks of season, 28 for the next two weeks, near the season's end, clubs will have 26 active players. Teams can have as many as 60 players available for the season meaning the 40 on the 40-man roster and then 20 more on a “taxi” squad, which, in the Cardinals’ case would be in Springfield, Mo., site of the Cardinals’ Class AA farm club.

The designated hitter will be used in both leagues this year for the first time and also Major League Baseball for the first time will adopt an extra-inning approach employed by the minors, with each team starting an extra inning with a man at second and nobody out.

As for off-field rules, reports are that temperature checks will be conducted twice daily on players and other personnel. Coronavirus tests will be administered every other day and antibody testing once a month.

Cripes, I'm glad I stopped following baseball a few years back. Where's Radagast? This is as bad as calling for a high or low ball.

Which decision? The decision to have a 2020 season? Or one of divad's points. He had many. I'm just glad there will be a season of any kind. Otherwise the 20XX game would be kaput for next year.

The decision to have a bogus season. Nothing to do with SOM. Let them bring back 1969 like they promised or create a 2010's mystery league.

Can't wait until the traditional August 24 All-star game.

Extrapolating from a 162 game season, we can safely say the Twins pitching will fall apart after 40 games.

Okay. From a frustrated baseball fan point of view I hear ya. But who isn't frustrated? Owners are, players are, fans are, the people who grow peanuts are. But this is SOM. If things continue on their current path 20XX will have new cards next year. Skewed as they may be.

I dont know... these changes seem minor to me. There could be more intensity with a shortened season; it's like the whole seasom is a drive for the play-offs. As long as most players play, I think it will be different but still really good. But I wonder how the game will feel without fans. Fans are not just people who pay money but they actually become part of the game itself as they help to create the drama and intensity. That would be the question for me: is it going to feel like watching spring training games?
