Bottom of the 9th, two outs, Kent Tekulve (9R) is facing Jose Cardenal (9L). HAL chooses to walk Cardenal to load the bases?

You now know why you should have intentional walk set to very conservative. Walking bases full to get force at any base is a standard MLB move and I have always hated it

In a game last night -- even though I had checked "do not steal" -- Rogers Hornsby tried to steal and got caught, of course. It wasn't a hit and run or double steal. He had a single to lead off the inning: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/game/playbyplay/450528/5

It's these little things that are big things

I'm seeing a lot of unwanted, ill advised steal attempts. Anyone else?

it seems to me that there was another 'I would never have walked that guy' thread - after a dp, 1b was open and in that case and this, HAL just couldn't stand not having a force possible at second. Doesn't matter that no reasonable carbon- based manager would do it.

so I think the answer is that HAL abhors a vacuum at 1b. Personally, I think we are fortunate that he doesn't walk the lead-off man and every batter following a 2b.

Absolutely some glitches in the ATG9 game. Do not steal, for example. Bullpen moves. I don't think it's wise to have a bullpen of all match-up dudes, meaning extreme righties or lefties.

actually, I tried all extreme match-up guys and all it did was get me wiped-out in the first round by a wild card I had controlled in the regular...

I got another glitch or questionable move by HAL - I had Bell in LF and placed as remove for D late in game. I had Delahanty listed in strategy as the LF to use defensively and had him listed as backup for Bell. Instead, HAL takes the catcher currently in lineup, moves him to LF and brings in my back up C. This happened in back to back games. Delahanty wasnt injured, plus my C had similar D rating as Bell in LF. Not sure what was HAL's thought process there.

I just had MIke Lavalierre go 3-0 in stolen bases for a season despite being set to DO NOT STEAL and team set to CONSERVATIVE. Turned out all three of them were the back end of a double steal.
