Discrepancies with NeL Players

One of the greatest features of this game is the ability to put together unique rosters with players from all eras, including both legendary and obscure NeL players. That said, there are some unusual inconsistencies with the handedness of some NeL players.
There could be more examples of this, but John Beckwith and Martin Dihigo come to mind immediately. SoM has Beckwith listed as a righty, but Baseball-Reference has him listed as a switch-hitter. Likewise, Dihigo, as described by Hall of Famer Johnny Mize, was a switch-hitter, and SoM has two of his cards (counting his pitcher card) as a switch-hitter, but the best card of his is as a righty. Beckwith and Dihigo's righty card values would be somewhat higher were they to be classified as switch-hitters.
Can anyone explain why SoM decided to take the routes they did?
