In two recently completed leagues Bonds hit 102 Hrs and the first two games of a playoff series finished 29-10 and 23-6 but hey at least we fixed the unrealistic Super Reliever problem.

I jus finished a 12-team league with 4,155 homeruns hit.
But at least we fixed the Super Reliever problem.

I think I like this game.

One word easy fix - Normalization!!! Turn it back on!

Let’s make the game completely uninteresting to play!

An immediate doubling of hitter prices would go a long way to establishing a balance between pitchers and hitting in the standard 100 million league. And any hitter with a greater than 3 bias should see their price triple. Put a 39 million dollar tag on Bonds 6R and using him for 100 HR's in a profitable manner will drop off the table. Fatigue in late innings would fall allowing fewer runs. Would make putting a team together a balance between pitching and hitting.

Oh geez :)
For my part, I dislike any OSFA approach to control things because of the usual second order effects that create new "things". All that creates is discordance and doesn't sustainably improve anything.

The ATG game for many reasons will always have anomalies and exploiting them, I agree, is the fun part.
So, at least my confusion, is I don't understand what the high level of focus was on "super relief" as a realism measure, when there are so many other things that are not realistic. I just view the realism thing as a red herring used to favor a play style (not necessarily wittingly).

I also agree that the online ATG game is all about value, but not necessarily realism because it is not a replay of anything that actually happened. The pricing is the most interesting part and will never be perfect--that would indeed be boring.

Salary caps and other customizations prevent any one salary structure from ever being perfect, however one would define it. Any approach to salary/value always has to include assumptions of the game environment so prices are always context-sensitive.

If you are looking for more statistical realism in your leagues, limit the ballpark effects. Try a league where Turner '05 (8-8-8-8) is the maximum hitting park allowed (no ballpark readings over 8). It works wonders.
