auto-draft lists at higher caps

Hello, new player here. I've taken the plunge on my first two leagues and am really enjoying them so far. I've been hesitant to try out higher caps though because the drafting strategy seems so much different at $140 than $100. At $140 almost all the top players will be drafted. At $100, not quite so much. What is a good strategy for auto-drafting when everyone wants the same players? Would be very grateful to hear anyone's thoughts on this or be pointed to any resources or earlier threads that discuss. Cheers.

Drafting higher cap leagues requires a different mindset.
Ruth, Bonds, etc. will always be on someone's team at $140 mil. I normally limit premium players to the first three names on my draft list.
After that, it's the core $8-10 million dollar players that fit my ballpark and scheme.
Unfortunately, you usually run out of money before you have key players at all positions so another trick is to use the cheapest version of anyone on your list. For example if you want Vaughan $10.49 to play SS, you still put Vaughan $4.69 on your draft list and swap them out later.
