Huge news today for MLB record books: https://www.mlb.com/news/negro-leagues- ... ords-stats .

Kudos to Strat-O-Matic and our community for correcting this injustice well before MLB woke up.

A good move by MLB but could have implications for Strat. As I understand Elias is going to be compiling the stats. What does Strat do when those compilations become the official stats of record and they differ from what Strat has.

Will they redo the NeL cards? I assume they will issue new cdrom seasons for the new major leagues. When they do will they replace the cards we have with selected new ones from various seasons?

Anyone know what years are going to be covered?

If anyone has links to official news from MLB on this please post.

Does anyone know what time frame is estimated for completion of the records gathering? What is the target date for including the stats in the record book? Or will this be a rolling thing as records, scorebooks, photo albums, microfiche, etc are found?

Also, that Negro Leagues Database link pointing to seamheads.com does not work. Anyone know of one that does?

I just google Seamheads and it comes up. When you get to the website there is a link for the NEL database. Its a cool website and they have all kinds of interesting articles. For instance they have several articles about the Mexican League when a lot of Negro Leaguers played down there.

Not sure I would be on board with Cuba being considered a major league. Let's be honest it is a single island. While a few great players have came from there what could exist on one island cannot compare with negro leagues drawing from an entire nation.

Japan has a little better case but I would tend to say they were comparable to AAA. We only have a few barnstorming tours in to Japan at the end of a few seasons to draw cross comparisions. With the negro leagues they often competed against the MLB stars so we have relatively reliable cross stats to cross reference and identify how much stats should be inflated/deflated.
