* in steal ratings?

PostWed Dec 23, 2020 8:15 pm

Can someone remind me what the * means in the steal ratings

For example

the Ainge 1980 card has (C) *6/- (20-11)

The Alfonso 1998 card has (C) 6/- (15-6)

I do not find mention of the * in the how to read a batter card. Does it mean anything at all for online ATG9 strat?

AFAIK, it is implemented as in the board game Super Advanced rules.

(23.11) Players who steal often have an asterisk (*) in front of their good-lead range. The asterisk indicates that if the defensive manager does not elect to hold the runner, the runner automatically achieves his good lead. If a runner does not have an asterisk, or if he has an asterisk but is held on base, he must roll the two colored dice to determine whether he achieves his good lead.

On a related note...Of course, we can not choose whether the runner is held in the online game, but all of the downstream effects are similar--fielder range and HnR ratings can be affected by runner holds/infield in etc just as in the standard board game.

Thanks. That is along lines I was thinking but these days do not trust my memory as much as I once did and trust Strat even less.
