No Way Out?

I'm stuck in an unfortunate situation. Going with a 5-man rotation and one of my SP's is injured. Naturally, HAL will put in a RP to cover that start. Here's where I'm stuck. I'm in a LH power park tonight, facing a pretty much all LH power team. HAL has scheduled Roger McDowell (5R) to make the start. I've got two hard LH pitchers in the pen whom I'd much rather start. There doesn't seem to be any way to change this out. Any thoughts?

Although when this happens to one of my opponents they usually end up throwing a shutout so you never know...

Hal may use him as an opener goes one inning and then gets pulled- I have even seen RP listed as starter and then removed when game starts

This hasn't happened very often, but I always thought HAL picked the relief pitcher with the highest endurance rating regardless of the matchup.
In the ATG 8 days, I remember Hoyt Wilhelm (R4) pitched a shutout after pitching several innings in relief the day before.

Of interest here is that McDowell is an R3. Pretty good. One LH RP in my pen is also an R3. Also pretty good. Seems like HAL is selecting the pitcher with a higher price tag?

I had to double check that I wasn't playing you tonight

Maybe you could put McDowell as a closer, check do not relieve until 8th, and put maximize closer strategy. Do that with another reliever you dont want to start. Put any others in late inning slots. Then put your two lefties at middle relief.

You totally called it! McDowell went 1 inning of shut out ball and then the hard lefties came in and pitched most of the rest of the game. Offense came through making it a fairly lopsided game. First time I've seen this.

Hal changing with the times using an opener
