Anyone ever see a game where one team grounds into 8 double plays (15 innings)?
I think I've seen 5 before but can't remember any more than that.

8 in 9 innings. I'm sure it would have been 9 if I'd gotten a baserunner in the 6th before there were 2 outs.

Wow. If I had been watching that replay and it was one of my teams grounding into 8 DP's I probably would've chucked my Macbook against the wall.

Amazing to see 8 double plays in 9 innings.

A while back Frankie was contemplating extremely rare outcomes.
Since most teams get less than 162 DP in a season, I would assume that the odds of hitting into a DP is around once per game or 10% in any given inning. To have that happen 8 times out of 9 seems like an astronomical rarity.

The record is seven in a 9 inning game , done only three times...

In Strat. In real baseball in over 200,000 games it has never happened. Only 3 times has there been 7 in a 9 inning game. I believe 8 out of 9 innings for a double play--if as you indicated there would be a 10% probability per inning-would be a 1 in 30 million chance. So, yeah, a low probability. 9 out of 9 would be one in a billion...
