i had my Barnstormers event 5 autodraft 2 days ago...
I was given C Roy Campanella and his 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers' card...
I was more than schocked when I realized that Campy is a 2 injury risk...
WTF !!! A 2 !!! Incredible !!!
To give you an idea he played 144 of 155 Dodgers' games that year... and had 519 AB and 67 BB for a total of 586... 14 shy of the 600 SOM magic number for an injury risk of 1,,,
I would have understood a 1...
But 2...
Ludicrous and ridiculous... Probably if not surely one of the worst I,ve ever seen...

I believe Strat uses multi- year averages for the injuries and Campy only played 111 games in 54 and 128 in '52.

It's too bad because I love Campy... but at $7.59M with a 2 injury... risks are much too great...

Agreed. I've been saying the same thing for years. Let's start a poll to make Campy a "1"!

I agree...but I suppose that the argument from Strat might be that he "only" started 130 games at catcher and was a pinch-hitter in 11 games and came in to catch in late innings for Rube Walker in 2 games (and Walker came in for Campy 4 times). It speaks to the offensive juggernaut that the '53 Dodgers were that Campy had as many at-bats and RBIs as he did in 130 games started (the Dodgers scored 955 runs and 6 of the starting 8 scored over 100 runs...the lowest OBA of the starting 8 was Billy Cox at .363)...but yes, get Campy a 1.

Look, there is an endless list of guys who "should" be rated differently. You want to talk about catchers who should be rated a 1 injury (not that he's important) but look at poor John Stearns ...
https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/41 ... 292/456310155 games / 590 PA's and he's a two.
Like I said the list of these types of things is quite long. Which is why they should go to a Tiered Injury System with more than THREE levels.

Conversely, look at all of the 1 rated catchers who SHOULDN'T be a 1 ...
Sherm Lollar is a classic example:
1955 - 138 games and less than 500 PA's yet he's rated a 1
1956 - 136 games and 503 PA's and once again he's rated a 1
Go figure ........

It definitely helps players on teams that played 162 games.
A player with 600 PA in 1975 would be more fragile than 586 PA in 1953.

I just looked up Fisk in 1977.
611 PA and he's a 1 with a 3 game max injury.
