Why do people avoid them? If the answer is it takes too long to fill, then that is why it takes too long to fill. People are avoiding it making it certain not to fill quickly.
What I mean is it looks like 2 or more 12 team leagues fill each week, so clearly enough people to quickly fill a 24 team league.
Is there something else about a 24 team league people don't like?

never have done one and wont...player pool is diluted too much and when you set up your ballpark for a certain kind of team and dont have the draft go your way you are screwed...no thanks

lol there is no dilution at caps $100 and below. There are 5700+ players in the pool folks, an extra 12 teams makes little difference. If anything, tailoring to an extreme park is easier with 24 teams because your opposition's parks and rosters will be closer to average, whereas with 12 teams you could end up in an extreme league that negates the park you choose.
I agree with OP, the aversion to 24-team leagues has always baffled me.

24 teams are fun although there are "No love" elements. 1) Unbalanced scheduling where you have a massive home or away start can make team evaluation hard. 2) The 5 game 1sr round playoffs can give an advantage to an inferior team depending on SP rotation and/or injuries.

I will only play 24 team leagues, more realistic, better stats, if you win a 24 team league you deserve that title.
12 team leagues are awful, you play the same teams over and over and if you have bad division match-ups you're screwed. 12 team leagues you can change your entire team with free agent pick-ups, no real strategy needed for the auto draft.
What they should do is have AL/NL 12 team leagues that are joined so the winner of each league plays for an actual World Series title, that would be cool.
You can disagree with me all you want, don't care, play those 12 teamers all you want, I'll ride 24 like a boss.

Does the winner of a 24 team league get four credits, or at least more than the two you get for winning against 11 other guys? For guys like me that sometimes run a little thin on credits that's part of the equation. I have a better chance of getting to the finals and getting my credit back in a 12 teamer.

Each division winner in a 24-teamer gets a credit, meaning there are more credits to be won in 24-team leagues even after accounting for the extra teams. 7 credits for 24 teams is better odds than 3 credits for 12 teams. That's the main reason I can't fathom why they aren't more popular - the expected return is superior.

NOTED! I'll give it a shot some time. Thanks for the clarification.
