Just noticed the Doug Mirabelli card at $1.79 with a 5L, a rich man's John Wockenfuss, better D. Sorta like the Al Spalding card for $8.93 and *9, but the WP at 17 are a yikes. The new Trout card at $9.51 is interesting, but he didn't take many walks that year. Mmm...
Not a bargain, but just ran the 1999 Garciaparra through Diamonddope. I've used Appling at SS in the past as a balance vs LHP in Dunn/Sportsman parks with a good defensive 2b and lots of LH power. Put this Garciaparra card in that slot; 3 Natural HRs on against LHP.........
problem with Adames is his negative clutch. its -16 which brings his chances down from a respectable 41 all the way to 29. that's a big ouch! he has 11 GDP chances against RHP's so I guess he could bat 2nd? not bad power for cheap platoon.
In a Polo '41 park at $80M, no DH, I'm going to try out some of the new cards -- Garciaparra, Stargell, E. Chavez, Mirabelli, Benjamin, Wolters (defensive sub).
On the 5R Adames, primarily I don't like the fact is HR power is actually better against lefties if you use him in a platoon. Clutch is remotely a secondary concern.
