DEAR STRAT, We need Base Running Options added onto

PostMon Sep 05, 2022 9:17 am

the Hitters Preference Options on their individual cards. Because the Team Strategy base running setting is all encompassing, way too often my sloths are getting thrown out trying to advance because there aren't individual settings tabs. This addition/correction is much needed. It's unrealistic for slow catchers/Ib/ slow sluggers to be getting thrown out trying to advance on the base paths when they wouldn't be attempting to advance anyway. anyone know if adding this feature into the Strat Game Engine is realatively simple or a major techinal endeavor?

I guess I had hoped that the range of settings (from most aggressive to most conservative) was translated (akbeit occultly) into a minimum numeric split value, the most aggressive setting being a 'go' at, say, 1-10 (or less depending on the max of the player) and the most conservative requiring a safe chance of, say, 1-14.

but based on the root post, I think that what would be nice, would be settings that were 'numeric' and reflected the runners actual safe chance in context (at least outs, maybe score differential, maybe inning too, sorta like the 'behind and late', etc., for RPs) as in:

" hold if safe chance is less than 1- ## " where '##' is a number between 1 and 21

Great idea! I love the granularity of strategies like this. It does make slow catchers fit in better on fast teams.

Without having access to their code, I'd assume it's a pretty easy feature to add. That said, developers are expensive, even for easier work like this. Presumably, this would go in the same folder/area as the other hitter settings and some small but similar code to the other settings would need to be created.

I could be mistaken, but I don't remember that team running style was ever part of individual player card choices.

I think it was just a user interface change for the individual player card options that exist today, not a functional change under the hood.

I may be recalling incorrectly, but I remember it as a welcome change to the UI because it was a pain to set each card's settings if that was your thing.

So to the original question...not sure if difficult. I have the PC game but never use it, so maybe someone who is familiar with the PC game would know if that is something that exists on a player-by-player basis outside the online adaptation.
