I assume they were working on the code, maybe adding new cards or something to the database or working on new features and something exploded. At least that's what happens with my game when we add new stuff, once in a while there is a bug that needs squashing!

"something exploded" as within the game engine itself? internal not external nor maliciously embedded from the outside like malware?

SOM sent out a number of e-mails during the outage. Here are a couple of excerpts:

...Our domain hosting company continues to have deep technical issues and our web address (along with many other companies' internet domains) is still experiencing an outage....

...We are happy to say that the Strat-O-Matic.com website is now back up and running. Our domain hosting company has completely resolved their issue....

If you want to receive e-mails from them go to Your Team>>>Team Preferences.

I meant it was probably an error in the code that was pushed and resulted in an outage. But it looks like it was an issue with the domain. I don't know anything about how that stuff works though!

I found something on google that may relate to this. I'm just copy-pasting it here.

What causes a DNS outage?
Typically, DNS errors are caused by problems on the user end, whether that's with a network or internet connection, misconfigured DNS settings, or an outdated browser. They can also be attributed to a temporary server outage that renders the DNS unavailable.Jun 10, 2022

I’ve been having issues with this site for weeks. I recently had to change my password for the site too. I’m nervous every time I put my card in when purchasing a team now. Even today when signing into the barnstormers league I had trouble getting in which I eventually did but…..

You may want to consider using PayPal for purchases here. When they had the credit card breach in maybe late 2020 that was announced o/a March 2021, I recall those who used PayPal were unaffected because in that case the payment data is handled external to SOM.

Not trashing them, just stating what the case was FYSA. You can search the boards for "breach" if desired.
I would guess that SOM is likely to be the least of your information vulnerability issues. Though I did previously wonder out loud why certain parts of the site's access go to non-https, like these boards. But that is a different story.

As for the rest of this thread, I am just... amazed. Not sure if that is the right word.

I have switched to PayPal. I was one of the ones that had problems in 2020…. More recently the problems have been going to a screen where I’m “signed out” then a simple refresh and I’m signed in again or it would bring me to a screen and it would say like no data available or something along those lines. Been better last few days until the barnstormers thing this morning. The link in the email was telling me the league was full and the password wouldn’t work either. Then it did. Lol idk. I’ll probably just slow down with purchasing teams for a while until I feel better again
