22-inning game

This may be the longest game I've been involved in: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/game/464130/107

In the bottom of the 22nd inning, "Rey Ordonez drew a walk. Ordonez took his lead and swiped second. Jose Alvarado then let loose a wild pitch. Pete Booker came up and he would hit into a fielders choice making Penn State the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration."

Fortunately, Hal used my Greg Maddux for the last six innings. :D

And I thought my 14-inning game was too long!

Why was R Rueschel not used since he is a S/R and Maddux was just a S?
Then Maddux will probably start a game in the same or next series and go all the way.

Good question. Not sure why Rueschel wasn't used and Maddux was. But the opponent has an almost all righty starting team (save for P. Weintraub). I have the 5L Rueschel in the default rotation and set for a quick hook, AVOID righties, max 1-2 innings in case he does get in. Maybe Hal saw him as too rigidly controlled after all others were taken out? It is a head scratcher.

Yikes! I've been misspelling his name here -- it's "Rick Reuschel."  :D

A glitch I've noticed a lot, and it happened in this game. Why would the defending team do a fielder's choice out and let the winning run score? I guess it's surely based off the card roll, but this is where one would think Max Rules would kick in and not let the winning run score on a fielder's choice. Just wondering .... :?

If the throw goes home but the batter would have been out had the throw gone to first, is that not scored a fielders choice?

It's weird in SOM. Kinda confusing -- in real life, they would almost always throw home to prevent the score if the runner broke for home. Unless it was a gimme out on the batter to end the inning. With less than two outs -- in this case, there were no outs –- a gimme out on the batter in SOM shouldn't result in the runner scoring in a game-winning way. Teams would always throw to home to prevent that run to score. Just confusing and a definite glitch ...

Seems like for intelligence this would be built into the Max Rules somehow.
