Back by popular demand (actually, no one requested it, I just felt like running it again) is the 3rd season of Lettermates.
6 team 999M. DH. Choose any stadium.
This league will be a cross between the Teammates league and an alphabet league. Players will be chosen by a 10-round serpentine draft on ILC forum (order determined by randomizer) with the following rules.
Round 1 - any single player can be selected.
Rounds 2-10 - Each manager will select 3 players at a time with the following two restrictions. 1) The last names of all three players must begin with the same letter or letter group. 2) Each of the three players must have a different primary position on their card. For example, if selecting in the G group and you choose Gehrig, you cannot also select Giambi since they are both listed as 1B for their primary position. Similarly, if you are selecting within M, you cannot choose both Maddux and Pedro Martinez. You can, however, choose within the same letter or letter group multiple times, so if you got Gehrig earlier, you can get Giambi in a later round. There are a number of players who have multiple cards listing different primary positions - and since you can use any card of each player, the position rule can be circumvented for these players. For example, if choosing in the W group and you select Willie Wells, you can also select Honus Wagner since he has a card which lists RF as his primary position. [However, in this instance, if you choose Wells and Wagner, you cannot also select Larry Walker since his primary position is RF]. For pitchers like Eckersley and Smoltz, they can be drafted along with either a starter or reliever since they have both starter and reliever cards. Pitchers who are starter/relievers are considered starters, therefore, you cannot select Pedro Martinez and Christy Mathewson at the same time.
At the conclusion of the draft, you will have 28 players who are exclusively yours - and these will be the only players that can be autodrafted. If after 10 rounds you find that you have not chosen the requisite number of SPs, RP, or catchers for the autodraft, you can drop any group of three that you have selected (it has to be the entire group, not one player from three different groups), and choose another group of three that fixes the problem.
After the autodraft, any unselected players can be chosen in waivers. There are no farm system rules - any player who ends up in the free agent pool is a free agent for all.
Trades are unlimited.
Individual letters : A, B, C, D, G, H, J, K, L, M, R, S, W.
Letter groups : EFIN, OPQT, and UVXYZ.
If interested, please be certain that you'll be available a few times a day to check in and make your selections so the draft can be completed without extended delay.
