40 Man Roster

This is just a suggestion. I would like to hear some thoughts on this. Could we have a 40 man roster. We could drop and bring up players before each series (as long as we stay below the salary cap}. I just finished a league with the advanced injury system. My team and others were killed by injuries .A 40 man roster would have really helped.

I've thought of this before, and 40 seems excessive and might lead to having a 2nd team on standby to play matchups based on opponent stadium.
With 30 it would get us a 6 player Taxi Squad. 2 guys that can cover all 4 IF positions, another 2 for the OF, and 2 pitchers.
The big problem with the whole thing is that 15 game injury guys are priced cheaper due to the risk, which messes up the pricing structure for those cards, incentivizing putting injury prone guys on the roster.

I think it would be great to have more dynamic roster flexibility. Not sure if 40 man makes sense and it would require some changes in how the salary cap system works (like a primary "active cap" and a "taxi cap" and you get 10 free moves so long as they are from your expanded roster). It would certainly add some realism.
I think it would open up the pool of useful players because you could have some guys in the taxi which are situationally valuable but in a standard league you would not roster.

I like an expanded roster, taxi squad, all of which makes it more fun to do the GM work.

I like the transaction limit, takes care of revolving lineups to match home and away parks.

If expanded rosters were necessary or desirable, one would expect current managers to be using the maximum number of roster spots, 28. Yet the vast majority of managers actually use the minimum, 24.

It is why you would have to have two caps or else people would just collapse the money.

I think a good option would be a dl/IL. A person suffers an injury, you can put them on the DL and can claim 40% of that players salary for a replacement while the players out. So a 10m player gets hurt you can use a 4m replacement.b player comes back you have to drop the player or another of equal or greater value. Someone mentioned above the cards are priced with the injuries in mind so any change would probably require a repricing

Currently if someone gets hurt his replacement is a scrub already on your roster, which mirrors real life. All this other stuff seems like a solution in search of a problem.

I agree completely. I would suggest this topic would be a lot more relevant where the current season set is concerned, for those who enjoy the suffering involved with the super-advanced injuries turned on.
