Hi everyone I’m new to online 365. Drafted my first two teams in 162 bot leagues.in creating second team learned a lot about drawing on the free agents. I based the hitters on obp and slg and homers. Not concerned with fielding lineup mostly in the style of sabermetrics. And suggestions for adjusting welcome. With the pitching I stressed whip and also bsksnce and third era. My pitchers have great real stats. But in both leagues I have the worst pitching record after 30 and 12 games. I need some help in adjusting my criteria? Thank you! Looking forward to maturing to the point of joining a real league. - Michael

Post a link to those 2 teams and you can get specific recommendations with a general explanation of the reasons for the changes that can help you moving forward.
I'm not good enough to help, but others will be able to offer suggestions. :D

I will say that bad defense will kill your pitchers. without seeing the team, I can't really offer anything more.

Some basic recommendations Don’t tie too much money up on the bullpen (and bench for hitters). Keep most the money on the starters. Besides that playing to your ballpark is a big advantage

Post the link and I am sure folks will be able to give you some concrete advice. But, defense up the middle is important so don't skimp there. Also--park effects make or break pitchers. The best way to select a staff is by tailoring them to your home park.

The real life stats mean virtually nothing in strat. It is all about the card itself. If you are not reading the card and making sure it fits whatever park you have chosen it will result in some major issues. The website diamonddope.com will go a very long way in helping you put numbers with the actual game cards.

The last two comments got to it before I did, but I think that's really the essence of it. Don't read too much into real life stats - research how the cards work in your home ballpark and secondly, how they match up against your division. Building your team to fit your ballpark is where you're going to find your most exploitable advantage.

Oh, and welcome!
