Fun Musings

Have you guys ever thought about totally new stuff being added to the game? I doubt it would happen but it would be interesting if we had weather effects, could control prices for hot dogs, beer, etc, pay for advertisements or special events to increase attendance, and so on. Team morale would be cool too and could play into a news feed. "Dimaggio and Coleman are not getting along, could it end up with one guy being traded?"

On the topic of morale, player and team performance and other things could be a factor. There are a ton of realistic elements that could be added. Another interesting idea would be players retiring and building new ballparks. I'm sure this would not be for everyone but I'd find it fascinating.

Guy across the street was a bit older, in college while the rest of us were in the 7-9th grade.
We had a Strat League, and he turned it into whatever college projects are called.
8 teams. How to finance stadium. Initial team expenses, weekly upkeep, player and vendor salaries, all the minutiae of running a team with a stadium.
Weather, and opponents record increased or decreased crowd by a %. Weather impacted concessions. Coffee and hot chocolate are cheaper than beer. Bat day was an expense but a sure sellout.
I ran one of the teams on the field, so to speak, I think he had 8 teams financials in the report.
I don't recall his grade, but he was pleased with it,

It would be interesting to simulate the real operations of teams with all of the financial aspects factored in to your ability to spend money on players (or keep profits).
Would the best GM be the one that wins championships or makes the most money for the owner?

I'd also like to be able to spend some money on
-third base coach (better outcomes on the basepaths)
-training staff (less injuries)

Only one guy was worried about team finances, as he had to turn in the paper for a grade. The rest of us just played the games.
