Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365

I have a baseball trivia question that's driving me crazy. I can't figure it out, but maybe someone here can help.

Back in the 80's, they would play John Denver's song "Thank God I'm a country boy" when some relief pitcher would come into the game. I think it was the KC Royals (George Brett and company) but none of their RP seem to be the right one.
I looked on Baseball Reference and did the typical internet search but can't find anything. Maybe my dates are wrong or it wasn't the Royals.
Does anyone know who I'm thinking of?

I was looking at the Royals roster in the 1980's but Littell was on the Cardinals at that time.
