A Cautionary Lineup Tale

167 games into the season, I realized that I never adjusted my batting order after inserting the appropriate players in there.

Thurman Munson and Mike Lavalierre batted leadoff the entire season ... YIKES!!!

Somehow it worked out okay so far, since I'm up 3 games to 2 in the semis.

BUT ... The moral of the story is be sure to check your lineups before opening day.

I once did that but caught it at about 100 games into the season. I was looking at a boxscore trying to figure out why Pudge Rodriguez led off for me. On examination my lineup was in positional order and not adjusted at all. It meant Willie Randolph had batted 3rd for me to that point with Jose Oquendo batting 5th. Like you it had actually not hurt me too badly because I was in first.

I faced another team and noticed that they had Dihigo playing SS while Lou Boudreau was DH.

I pointed out the inconsistency. Of course, Boudreau turned 3 double plays against me the next time we met.
