Higher Priced Leagues

It's of course tempting to play at leagues with higher $$$$ levels, as it's nice to have such cash to put together a roster. But I try to avoid them, as I can't seem to win at levels of 120 mil and up. My record at those levels is 36 teams, 6 playoffs and 1 championship. Yikes.
What's the secret? Of course, I don't expect those with success at higher levels to reveal that, but I'm in a fog about how to succeed at those levels, and as to the explanation for my inability to win at those levels.
Anway . . . perplexed.

From my experience (which is also pretty bad) pitching gets way more important at the higher caps. I’ve started to get a feel for 140m , one of the reoccurring leagues I’m in has picked 140m cap like 7 seasons in a row it feels like and if I don’t have 3/4 $10m pitchers my team really struggles.

Matt,
Yes, but I've always had high priced pitchers in those leagues also. Nothing seems to work.

In my limited play at the higher levels, I noticed that pitching gets killed no matter what the salary used.
For the most part ATG has become a Homer First Game and even the pitching cards designed to stop the offense regularly give up 45 ++ Homers just because on a 50% average the roll lands on the Hitters card and there are a number of hitter cards at various salaries that have a 20% +/- chance to hit a home run, higher the salary the more Home Run hitter there are.
Pitchers Cards Salary should be dropped 5-10% and the Hitters cards raised by that same total to bring a little more balance into the game. Plus come up with a usable bullpen control where everyone knows how to use it.
In ATG the play pool was small and it was battle just to build a good team, now you can miss the draft and still pick a winning team....offense side is out of balance

Ball park choice matters a lot in the high cap leagues. You really need to build a homefield advantage in it even more. I typically only do either a righty or a lefty park in high caps. If you do a straight homer park it is really hard to build enough of an advantage in those caps.

High cap leagues are toughest because they are the most draft-dependent and the parity is highest. At low caps you need to know how to squeeze value out of your roster, whereas at high caps everyone just wants the same expensive players. That being said, I do consider $120 and even $140 as more similar to lower caps than to $200 and above.
