Hiding Pitchers

Revisiting how to hide pitchers for more advice because: fielding an NeL team, but of course there are only 4 Relief-Only NeL cards that I can find, and all four are bad. I do have four good bullpen arms, but I don't want the bad 4 to appear any more than necessary.
So, I can assign 2 of them as Mopup, but, ways to hide the other two (in addition to quick hook/avoid)?
Thanks!

Welp, I seem to face a number of teams with thin bullpens of 2 lefty specialists and 2 righty specialists and then HAL starts using starting pitchers out of the 'pen. And there doesn't seem to be much penalty for doing that, I've lost a number of close games with fatigued starters pitching 2-3 innings of relief, while my pitchers are still fresh. I wish SOM was smart enough to make starters fatigued for their subsequent start when that happens.

Setting a pitcher for Mopup will likely lead to that pitcher throwing a lot of innings.
Mopup: Any inning; Leading or trailing by 7+ runs
So I wouldn't recommend doing that.

That is not correct. it's +/- 5 runs

Honestly, if you don't want Hal to put a guy in you don't put him on your roster. It is possible to limit reliever usage with a dominant starting staff with high endurance (and hopefully an offense potent enough that it won't matter that much anyway) but trying to use the settings to do that typically leads down a bad road.
In my opinion, if you give HAL more choices, he usually makes better ones, so it may be too late now, but running with a heavier pitching staff (more relievers not less) some times works.

DonSutton is incorrect. This round goes to Billy Williams fan. From the
game rules:
Mopup: Any inning; Leading or trailing by 7+ runs. Always check the primary source.
In real life, Don Sutton
owned Billy Williams. 66 PA's with a .636 OPS.
Also, Billy Williams fan said that:
Setting a pitcher for Mopup will likely lead to that pitcher throwing a lot of innings.
Mopup: Any inning; Leading or trailing by 7+ runsThis makes no sense. Instances of a 7 run differential in a game are infrequent. Perhaps he was thinking of Middle Man.
Middle Man: Inning: 1-6; Leading or trailing by 1-4 runs or tied I don't play ATG, but I have gotten the impression that relievers are an afterthought in that card set. In the 20xx game, setting your 2 best relievers to Setup and Middle man is a common strategy in order to maximize their innings.

Ha Ha, didn't know that about Sutton vs. Billy.
I could have stated it better by saying that you'd be better off NOT setting a role than setting the pitcher for Mopup. In a mopup role, the crappy pitcher you don't want to see the mound could get inserted in a game that you're up by 7 runs and easily blow the lead and cost you the game.

Very helpful, thanks all! The four bad relievers are only on roster b/c it's an NeL team, and there are only 4 NeL Relief-Only cards (Oscar Charleston being the worst one!) - hoping that changes.
So: no one in mopup role, using every avoid available (except blowout), and setting two GOOD arms (Hilton Smith and Jose Mendez) as Middle Man and Setup - thanks again!

If you make sure two of them are S/R's you can put them in the rotation and then use the Per game starters tab to make sure that your starters start and your .50 S/R's dont start. They also wont be used in relief unless you have noone available in like a 17 inning game or something.

i actually would put them in mopup. they'll get some innings, but generally innings that don't matter much.
