Description:
Cut Throat leagues provide suspense every night. The idea is that a team that sweeps a series can swap one of their players for one on the swept team. The only limit is that the player being offered has to be able to play the same position as the one being asked for can at at least a 4 (DH is not a recognized position, but RP-only is), and the player being offered must be on the winning team's roster when the sweep occurs. If the offer meets these criteria, the losing team must accept it. And in order for this to work, all managers must check the scores in a timely manner, no later than the afternoon of the next day, so that both teams can adjust their rosters and lineups accordingly. Teams can become mighty or devastated, but there's more strategy, attentiveness and emotion involved than in a typical league.

I am a relative newbie, only 20 or so teams total, including current ones, although I first started playing SOM in mid 70s and went to SOM convention in '77 as a snot nosed 16 year old, making the finals of the advanced baseball tourney (with ''72 A's), and having a blast and learning about life...

can I ask, with the "rules" that all GMS must check their scores (I assume only if a sweep is possible, and then only needing to react if the sweep occurs), how often does some excuse come up (my dog ate my bus pass, I was at work, my wifi stopped working, etc.) of course from the team that got swept ?

I like the idea and premise, but dislike drama

has this been a long running league (or group) with a track record of success (just regarding GMs complying with the rules)?

thanx

I`ve run 5 of these including 1 thats going through no time limit live draft. When i run them, SOM gives me total control of everyone`s roster to prevent any issues with excuses in which sweeping team can message me the trade offer to swept team and if losing team ignores, i force the move. Not much complaining and it`s basically a fun strategic league. This league is run by satyre so he`s got to deal with running league forcing everyone to comply.
