The BEST leadoff man ever.
And if there was ever a doubt, all you had to do was ask him.

He was one of the players that I was most excited to watch. Much too young.

Wow, this is tragic and shocking, way too young at 65. RIP Rickey Henderson, we loved you!

What a bummer. Rickey was a true superstar and certainly one of the most exciting players we've ever seen play the game.

I've always felt like if I had an unlimited budget the best leadoff hitter I wanted had to be Rickey. Unfortunately, his results in this simulation never seemed to match his unmatched prowess in real life. One of those players who always underperformed expectations, which is a bummer because I loved watching him play the game, always a pleasure. The best leadoff hitter ever.

One of the greatest to ever do it. When I became a fan Rickey was the best player in the league. I'd mention he is one of my all-time favorite players but I feel like that's true for pretty much any fan who got to see him play. What a loss.

I hated to hear this as well. As a Reds fan all my life I always felt Pete Rose was the best lead off hitter a team could have.
But in the early 80’s Rickey Henderson came along. On a pure talent level I have to admit that Rickey was the best.
I was telling my wife that one thing that they shared was the love of playing baseball. That was demonstrated not only in how they played the game but also in the fact that neither one wanted to give it up.

Too young. Rickey's talent was overshadowed only by his flair. The only tool he didn't have was an arm.

My wife remarked that she initially viewed him as a hot dog until she saw him play. He played hard and backed up his jawing with performance.

He always made me smile and for someone who was playfully viewed as eccentric and not a deep thinker, he committed few, if any, mental errors on the field.

What an All Time Great as many have said here. In any era, there is no doubt Rickey would have risen above his peers.

I'm not ready to dive back in to SOM play yet, but this one was a big loss and I thought to check in and say peace to all for the holidays.
