John Britton error?

PostMon Dec 30, 2024 2:49 pm

His 1944 card lists him as "W" power vs LHP and yet there's a BPHR chance vs LHP on 1-12. It's my understanding that "W" batters cannot have BPHRs on their cards and cannot hit BPHRs even if they happen land hit one on the pitcher's card (they turn into SINGLE**). Can anyone confirm if this is accurate?

A hitter with W power can have BPHRs on their card as well as regular HRs. The W only impacts potential HRs on the pitcher's card.

Would you happen to know of another example of this? I just quickly went through all the W hitters on my last 3 teams and couldn't find one with a BPHR on their W side(s). I know they can hit regular HRs...but the BPHR on a W batter is new to me.

It is mostly found on some of the db-era cards. King Kelly is one that comes to mind.

It surprised me too the first time I saw it. I've only seen it on pre-1901 and NeL cards.
