A new NO 10s! season is starting, and we are inviting the discriminating owner to join us.

NO 10s! is a league with a custom player set consisting of the full set of ATG 9 cards minus cards with a 10 Usage rating in Stats History (see Info/Help > Player Set Browser > Stats History tab).

A 10 rating means the card is among those that are drafted most frequently. Approximately 310 cards with 10 Usage ratings have been removed from the ATG 9 set.

The NO 10s! set has the effect of eliminating "gimmick cards" (e.g., Phil Weintraub, Mariano Duncan, Andrew Kittredge, Jordy Mercer, Mark Brouhard, $.50M Dan Plesac, et al) and the use of cheap, unrealistic platoons and bullpens.

Generally it results in reduced runs scored (by about 10-15%) and in Starting Pitcher cards performing closer to their real-life statistics.

I heard they weren't updating usage or stats on the Record Books (and these stats are only for $80M, if I recall, but correct me if wrong), so this concept would be out of date? For example, I'm trying to remember the exact player I was looking for and he should've been recently added (a year ago, if that's recent), and he wasn't in the Record Books. Let me try to recollect ...

Hey Hack, maybe so, but it doesn't matter for our purposes. We are using as our baseline only the Usage rating that they added to Stats History. How they arrived at the 10 rating, whether it's kept updated over time, or whether it reflects post-draft drops or actual usage ..... they don't matter to us.

Like you, I also have found there are several cards added to ATG 9 since they unveiled the Usage rating that are not visible in Stats History. Oh well is our philosophy.

LOL, so true. To us, it's a list of cheat cards for lazy, unimaginative owners.


We do get a laugh out of the inclusion in the deleted list such 5th SP cards as Luis Leal, Randy Lerch, and the execrable John F. Coleman -- 50-cent waterboys that, if drafted, you hope to hell never pitch. If you want to play the oh-so-realistic "Four Aces" SP strategy, you're gonna have to dig a little deeper in your pocketbook.
