2024 Event #5 preview and dates

We have hit the mid point of our summer and now comes the time for the big dollar events. 140 Mil and 200 Mil Event 5 and Event 6

First up, 140 Mil DH. Currently sitting at 156 active players with a miniscule dropout/no show of 6 players from Event #1. (162) / Live Draft Leagues will be optional for both 140 and 200 Mil Events. Last year for 140 Mil, we managed three live draft leagues, of which 30 players "requested" Live Draft, and I managed to pull in 6 volunteers to fill in the gaps, all the fillers were needed for the Thursday night LD.

Due to a first pitch date of Aug 12, this will mean the AUTODRAFT leagues will be created and invites will go out on or about Aug 1 or Aug 2. I will set again 3 Live Draft leagues which will be set for Tuesday Aug 6, Wednesday Aug 7, and Thursday Aug 8 all with times of 7pm PST / 10pm EST - the draft will be 1 minute per pick with all 25 rounds plus a stadium pick required during the draft. This will make the draft run approx 1 hour and 15-20 minutes overall. The times are set to allow the West Coasters time to get home from work and have dinner.

If you want to reserve your spot in the Live Draft, send me an email with the first and second choice of DAYS and I will see to it that you get one or the other. Last year, Thursday was the league that was the least requested and where the fillers were needed. Those not interested in Live Draft will of course AUTODRAFT.

Didn't we go through this last year ? If you live on the West Coast how do you feel about starting at 6pm on a work day ? If you live on the East Coast Is finishing at 11:20 EST a huge burden ? You drop right into waivers so there is no frenzy to worry about. Would like to hear other opinions.

I agree that starting at 7 is a benefit for the west coast that’s why I think 2 of the three starting at 7 makes sense. With one earlier one for the East

My opinion, with respect to Hitmans point, is to keep all draft times the same, easier to manage overall. As an East Coaster, I have three options to deal with one relatively later night; furthermore, if it doesn’t work for you, then you don’t need to do the live draft.

Yes but people decide based on which night they have available, not by the time of the draft. So if we decide to have one of those nights at 6 pm PST, which night is it ? Is that the night that someone happens to not have that night free ?

I think the best option here is for Hittmens to tell me which night he wants, I see to it that he gets it, and then as it fills, I ask everyone if 6 pm pst will be a problem for them. If it is for at least a few of them, then the time stays at 7 pm pst. So for now, it stays at 7 pm but if conditions warrant, it can be pushed back an hour to 6 pm.

How does that plan sound ?

Only for live draft. I am working on Autodraft invites right now. Many details, and I am sadly behind. Expect invites soon.
