2019 playoffs and on the Bubble for the 9th spot

So with six games left in the regular season and playoffs, it look like there is still a fair amount of drama to be had as to who will make it into the last slot (or maybe last two slots) of the top nine. The top 5 are secure (albeit their specific positions can shift). After The Last Druid there is a 15 point drop which theoretically puts the rest of the positions in play-- but not really likely.

Tmfw30 is sitting at 497, but the team needs 5 wins to score another point. Tmfw30 is in a 3 way tie for the wild card, so a tough road to the playoffs and additional points.

Hittmens is also sitting at 497, but is scoring points already-- so can still get points in the regular season. In addition he has clinched the wild card in his league, so that is one guaranteed point right there.

Hola is sitting at 496, but is also scoring points already-- so can still get points in the regular season. In addition Hola has clinched the a division, so that is two guaranteed points right there (making Hola and Hittmens effectively tied).


Chris_s is sitting on the bubble at slot number 9 at 492 points. His overall points won't go up unless he makes the playoffs. He has a tough but not impossible road to the playoffs and once there could begin increasing his score again. For those already scoring points (because they have passed their earlier worst season) the most points left to be scored are 6+2+4+4+5=21. Thus one needs at least 471 points right now to even tie Chris_s sitting at number 9 on the bubble (so right now positions 10-25) Of these several cannot score any more points or enough more points.

But this leaves 11 players (including Chris_s) vying for essentially one slot. It is possible Tmfw30, Hittmens and Hola could also be knocked out by a combination of bad luck on their part and a good run by one of the contenders.

Its going to be tight. (And yes I did all this analysis because I am in the hunt )

I think I am in trouble. I have already lost 34 one run games in event 6. thirty. four. And while I still have a path to the playoffs, it is threading a needle.

I think egnaro is probably the favorite to grab that 9 spot now, but there are a few that could steal it. I expect to finish 10 to 12 and bracing myself to have to fight my way through a 12 team league.

Mine too. I absolutely choked on the 200m event by not joining a live draft league. I knew my team was in trouble immediately after a bad auto draft. Looks like tough competition for the 12-team semifinal...

LoL- and you are still in it an I am not. All I had to do to pass you was not have my 100-62 team get swept by my 80-82 opponent in the semi's.. one lousy game, so what happened... you guessed it (to be fair this actually was by far my worst head to head match up of the teams in the playoffs 6-6 with him having an 11 run advantage, so not that improbable)

I have not checked, but several guys can still pass you if they win a ring-- pretty good chance at least one will but not guaranteed.

I believe I may have clinched the #9 slot.

Egnaro, I couldn't believe that your team got swept in the semi's. I figured you would win at least 2 games in the series to eliminate me.

congrats mburatti. And thanks for making it quick and (relatively) painless for me.

Thanks Chris. I know the feeling. 2 years ago in the Mystery Tournament, I was in 10th place and my team in the 4th leg laid an egg. With no way of gaining anymore points, I helplessly had to root against MoodyWoody and a couple others in their playoff runs to remain in the final 12. Needless to say I missed out by a couple points which was pretty frustrating.

I believe the Top 9 is finalized now.

speaking of on the bubble, if I remember correctly the play in format is two 12 team leagues and one 24 team leagues. So with the first nine making the playoffs, the next drop would be at 33/34 and right now it appears that 3 teams are tied at 33 (the last 12 team playoff slot). Two teams have moved up in the standings from league 6 to bump us down and its to hard to tell if anyone else can bump us from this slot.

I will have to go see what the tie breaker is if things finish up as they currently stand.
