Well, I logged into Diamond Dope at 6 a.m. EST. Took about 45 minutes using Firefox before I finally was able to connect with the draft. Many times the site timed out. At work I can only use the dated I.E. application. Must have been the high volume of website traffic at the peak time of 3 a.m. PST / 6 a.m. EST.
Once I did get in, I noticed that none of the new cards appear to have been entered. So if you want Burke, Sanders or House, you will have to roll the dice with the auto draft lottery for picks 16-25. That fact alone renders Murray a viable first pick, otherwise the influx of new R3 super relievers certainly reduces Murray's uniqueness. So really, if you want to be
certain of employing a super reliever strategy, you will have to draft Murray, Sutter or Wilhelm fairly high. Pineiro is an even better pick than Murray. That was a brilliant pick by Marc, but may not be as high a priority at 100M and is certainly more committal than I like, as I prefer to keep all options for park direction, and thus team composition, open after the first pick.
I was going to take Ruth - the pitcher -- first but upon reviewing many teams, even in League '34 he usually can't even hit 60 taters for me at 100M whereas other guys play him in Forbes and he hits 70+. So my first pick is still up in the air. I will try to make it tonight, assuming I can get into the diamond dope draft application. If not, I'll just post it here, by no later than 8 p.m.
