Ok, we're getting closer to the deadline and 80M is not gaining any ground with Gumby's lobbying efforts.
So here's my offer. Since I am ridding myself of my baseball card collection (except items for my son and grandson) I am offering cards of my favorite player, Wayne Terwilliger, to the first three owners who switch to 80M DH leagues.
That right, Wayne Terwilliger! Wayne is a WWII Marine who served in the Pacific theatre and was with the assault forces at Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. If he had done nothing else in his life he was a hero. But after the war he played for some of the lesser teams in existence (that's putting in mildly) including the Cubs, Senators, and Kansas City. The closest he came to winning was sitting on Brooklyn's bench and watching Bobby Thomson's infamous home run.
Wayne's most memorable baseball success is his 60 years wearing a baseball uniform as player, coach, and manager. He retired as manager in 2005 after leading the Fort Worth Cats to a pennant. “Twig” remained as first base coach there through the 2010 season. He then retired at the age of 85 after participating in over 7100 baseball games.
When I think of baseball's All Time Greats Wayne Terwilliger immediately comes to mind. That's why I've taken this opportunity to mention him here. Cheap bribery attempts aside, Wayne will be coaching third base on my team. That way I'll know I have one winner at season's end.
