I, too, am grateful to the board and Moose for their quick action in this matter and for all the time they spend making BSers a good tournament.
This is not a criticism, but I'm a little disappointed that the Finals again are using a DH. Given that there was a tie in the voting, I was hoping that the Finals would be $80 mil no DH to mitigate the impact of the super reliever strategy. Yes, I understand that the higher the cap, the smaller the impact of the super reliever strategy, but at least with no DH there's a possibility that HAL will pinch hit for the super reliever and get him out of the game. The tourney should reward managers who build the best team, not those who best game the system. A truer test of team building skills would be a cap of $140 million.
Note that I'm not trying to hijack this thread and turn it into a debate on the super reliever strategy. Those arguments have been made and rehashed numerous times in the ATG forum.
I can't say that I blame the managers who use the super reliever strategy. It is a viable strategy, just as playing a team in a skewed ballpark is a viable strategy.
The responsibility for closing the super reliever loophole rests squarely with SOM. Until such occurs, it is here to stay.
Good luck to all the managers in the Finals.
