Within the same semifinal leagues, I will also adjust the division alignments based on the revised seeding for that semifinal league.

Would it not be unfair to adjust divisions after some managers have already made their picks? Managers are presumably picking ballparks in part based on who is in their division, and on previous picks by other managers in their division.

So managers who make their picks before divisions are "adjusted" would get thrown into a different division than the one they picked for, while managers who have not yet picked (including the replacement) would have the advantage of knowing who is in their division and/or any parks already picked in their division.

Usually in these situations the replacement is simply plugged into the spot he's replacing, to avoid messing up the divisions (or seeding) for everybody else while the draft is underway.

You're right mesquiton. The divisions should stay as they are, with the alternate simply taking their place. however, the alternate will pick last for the ballpark selection.

GBrookes,

To ensure we remain in our assigned divisions -- do we enter our teams in any particular order? For example, the four teams in the East Division load first, then the four Central teams, and then the four West teams. Thanks, Henry

Yes - that's exactly right Henry.

jeep driver has replaced spicki17 in league. 2. Buzz082308 is now up to pick. Jeep will pick last in semifinal league2 for the ballpark draft, and will replace spicki17 in the east division of that league.

You're up chuck!

A couple of "by the way" comments:

We have alternates ready to go. Jeep Driver has replaced spicki17. We have 2 additional alternates ready if LongIsland4Ever is a no-show by Tuesday noon ET, or if there are any further no-shows - thisisdan26 and scumby. Hopefully we are smooth sailing to the finish line after Tuesday noon tomorrow - or sooner if LongIsland4Ever checks in with his ballpark pick.

The alternates will pick last in their particular semifinal leagues. They will simply replace the no-show manager in the particular division assignment, in that same league.

This semi-final ballpark draft is also really serving the purpose of "checking in". That's why I have been somewhat lenient in terms of timing.

When the finals come, my tentative plan is to do a live draft for players as well as ballparks, assuming that the strat-o-matic live draft is up and running by then. THAT draft will be completely different, with shorter time limits for picks. For the finals draft, if a player doesn't make his pick within the required time limit, then the other players can make a pick. The person who missed their pick can make their catch-up pick at any time, but meanwhile the live draft carries on without them for the time being, so that the whole process keeps moving, one way or the other.

The main potential issue with the live draft is if there is a player who simply does not have access to the internet for long stretches of each day. What I intend to do, once the 12 finalists are determined, is to simply ask if anyone has a problem with internet access for long stretches of time. If there is a problem, I may consider whether or not to proceed with the live draft. In terms of internet access, it should be noted that you can usually post "proxy" picks IN ADVANCE, so that you may make your pick in your time slot, even if you don't have internet access. Like all systems, it isn't perfect, but it works pretty well.

(I'm basing my "live draft" comments on the other long-standing live draft platform - "diamond dope". I like diamond dope, but its user interface is extremely slow and somewhat unpredictable/unreliable in recent years. So while I like the functionality of diamond dope, I don't think we want to use it for the PC finals.).

If I'm not satisfied with the suitability of using a live draft for the finals, then we may do a smaller scale draft only on these discussion boards, and do an autodraft for the rest of the players - at my discretion. I will take input on all of these questions and plans for the finals. The extent to which we do a live draft for players will depend on what the finalist's internet access issues are.

IN any case, all of that is about the possibilities for a live draft for the finals. For the semifinals, we are just drafting ballparks on these boards, and then starting the autodraft this week, if all goes according to plan. One league is already loading their teams!

That's all for now. Good luck to all of the semi-finalists!!!

thisisdan26 - if LongIsland4Ever doesn't make his pick by 12 noon ET, and if neither Kire nor T.Richardson check in, then you are the alternate for league number 1. You will pick last, and you will replace LongIsland4Ever in the West division. Your previous ballpark picks were Rogers, Fenway, Great American, US Cellular, and Yankee.
